After many concerned last words and hugs and photos, we waved bye to our parents and friends and all the kind souls that came and went in not knowing one another from the different courses very well. All was better after some rounds of introduction and the plane rides were smooth :D

A visual treat from many many feet up in the air with anticipation and excitement brewing in our tummies:




We reached the Chang Chun airport at around noon on Monday, 23rd March and were warmly received by the teachers who looked so relieved to see us. It was negative three Degree Celsius the moment we touched down, and caused us Singaporeans, so used to the tropical climate to get a little tensed up.

Once we went out into the cold air, everyone had fun “hoo-ing” and “ha-ing” out and seeing “smoke” coming out from our mouths. :X

These are the first sights of ChangChun captured by some of us, though with cold shaky hands. The leafless trees are rare to see in Singapore, the air smells so fresh, and buildings are so different too.





We were taken to our hostel rooms, which are really like motel rooms, complete with a little living room, kitchen, bathroom, beds, cupboards, TV and heater. The condition is good and we left for lunch!

The school treated us to the delicacies and special dishes that one can only taste in this part of China. The food was quite good, and it was interesting seeing Chinese food served so differently.



After filling our stomachs, we went back to the school and were warmly received by the director and teachers and they guided us to choose the various modules that we will take these three weeks with the school according to our course specializations. They have a wide variety of modules to be covered by the various courses and it was exciting to take our pick. The school was very kind and hospitable with their arrangements that some of us even had one-on-one classes with the teachers.

The group of us headed out for dinner and some shopping.


We visited Mr Lee’s Beef Noodles, which is very common in Changchun, it’s kind of like a fastfood chain and the food is really good :D

The day concluded with a cab ride home. The cab uncles in ChangChun are rather friendly and the fares are really cheap too. It was a 5 RMB ride, which is like 1 Sing!

We met together to share out thoughts and everyone agreed that the school and place exceeded our expectations of ChangChun. The technology is not much slower than Singapore, the people are fashionable and stylish, the shopping districts are vibrant and bustling with people and the food is good too!

All in all, we are anticipating more memorable days to come in our stay here.
